Samsun Chamber of Commerce and Industry was officially established as Canik, is one of old names of Samsun, Chamber of Commerce and Industry by Mutasarrıf Hamdi Bey in 1905. Mutasarrıf Hamdi Bey is the father of Sedat Simavi Bey and the son of Süleyman Paşa who was the governor of Beirut. Once upon, The Romans and Armenians were leading the commercial and industrial life in Samsun. Thats why, members of the Chamber Assembly were mostly Romans and Armenian.

During the big fire iof Kale ward in 1905 the building of the government and chamber together with the all documents were burnt and all the informations sources about these years were lost. Following the big fire, the Chamber has been continued its activities in İskele Street until 1943 when the earth quake devastated the city. In 1943, the President of the Chamber, Süleyman Balkan has bought the three storied building, which was Black Sea Hotel, was demolished and rebuilt as eight storied business centre building. The Samsun Chamber of Commerce and Service is still in service in this modern business centre building.
